In AA, sobriety milestones are marked with chips and coins, starting at 24 hours and continuing for decades. Early progress is counted in days and months, then shifts to yearly anniversaries after the first year. Here is what each common milestone means.

• 24 Hours – The desire or welcome chip, given to anyone ready to start, no questions asked.
• 30 Days – One month sober, the first monthly milestone.
• 60 Days – Two months of continuous sobriety.
• 90 Days – Three months, often when new routines start to feel steady.
